Midtown Square

This Central District project in Seattle prioritizes local businesses, affordable housing, and a prominent public square that highlights African history, culture, and the importance of coming together.

The resulting design was shaped by community input that asked for flexible space for dining, shopping and celebrating the rich history and culture. The street plazas at 23rd and Union Streets are designed to activate open and inclusive space and honor the significance of place in the community. As a community-based project, the site design was developed through extensive outreach with the neighborhood and the City’s design review process that shaped an expressive central plaza, open to the public, surrounded by local retail and art.
