Canyon Flats and Reilly Station

Canyon Flats and Reilly Station are two affordable family housing apartment buildings linked by a shared public paseo in the Warm Springs Metro Crossing neighborhood. JETT designed multiple outdoor gathering and play areas on the ground and podium levels.

A paseo visually blends in with the community, incorporates seating areas within a promenade of trees, and allows for pedestrian circulation and access to the nearby BART station. JETT created ground level outdoor retail and community gathering spaces and worked with the architect to blend indoor / outdoor transitions. Each building’s podium level has unique play and socialization areas and community gardens, while arbors, barbecues, and colorful lounge seating provide amenities for the residents. Planted bioretention areas allow for natural drainage on-site, slowing down and naturally cleaning stormwater runoff, while drought-resistant climate-adapted planting reduces irrigation water requirements. All elements of the landscape design comply with the sustainable standards of the Bay-Friendly program.
